Police last night took the highly unusual step of releasing CCTV images of two men they want to interview in connection with the failed abductions of two children in Glasgow.
Strathclyde Police had initially suggested that the attempted abductions on Monday of a seven-year-old girl near the Dental Hospital in the city's Renfrew Street and a seven-year-old boy in Great Western Road, near Belmont Street, could be linked.
Both children were uninjured.
Yesterday, however, the force said the incidents were "separate and unconnected" and, following consultations with the Crown Office, it has issued two images of men wanted in connection with the incidents.
The first image is of a male, aged about 19 or 20, walking on Renfrew Street at 3.09pm on Monday.
The second image is of a male in his late-30s walking on Great Western Road at about 12.50pm, and later at 4.20pm near to Hubbards public house, where he spent some time that afternoon.
Detective Inspector Andy McWilliam, who is leading the inquiry, yesterday appealed to the men in the CCTV images to come forward, and to any members of the public who recognised them to contact the police.
He said around 30 officers were now involved in the investigation.
