Pregnant woman in Glasgow hit and run
A pregnant woman was deliberately struck by a car in a hit-and-run, police said today.
The 32-year-old, who is four months pregnant, was hit by the vehicle in Glasgow yesterday.
She was taken to hospital but escaped with only minor injuries.
Police are treating the attack as attempted murder and have appealed for witnesses.
The victim was walking on Parragon Way, in the Gorbals area, when the vehicle smashed into her at around 1pm.
The car drove off and the woman was taken to the Victoria Infirmary where she was treated and then released.
Detective Constable Natalie Carr said: "Inquiries are ongoing to trace the driver of the car.
"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Parragon Way yesterday around the time of the incident and either witnessed the incident take place or has information that may assist police."
The woman was knocked over at the entrance to a Somerfield supermarket.
Today there was no evidence of an incident and people were going about their business as normal.
A taxi driver described how he arrived a minute after the accident and saw several people gathered round the victim as she lay at the car park entrance.
Robert Dickson, 37, who lives nearby, said: "I drove into the supermarket and the girl was lying on the ground with three or four people round her.
"The ambulance arrived a minute behind me. The police were already here.
"I've no idea of the motive. I drove in and she was just lying there."
He revealed the woman had blonde hair tied back in a ponytail.

Another drink driver on the streets it sounds like.
Now they're mixing two of alcohol's most violent past times:
Drink driving and domestic violence.
Prohibition Scotland.

The important thing to notice is the fact the police with all their csi gadgets that they never use rely solely on the public to solve this and any other crime they come across. So why do we need more police on the streets surely we just need more witnesses.

Mind you so is he. The bottom line is we don't know so why comment other than saying that to attack a pregnant woman is a disgrace.

Princess fiona, you are the 'repugnant one! You fail to explain why you call me repugnant, or even how you come to use a word that means 'inconsistent and contradictory'; therefore, as I predicted, princess foama, you are the repugnant one!
Besides, the fem wasn't hurt, and I was only jesting.
