Two boys aged two and six were found dead in a car at a hillside beauty spot near Glasgow.
The children, understood to be brothers, were discovered in the vehicle in the car park near Lennoxtown, East Dunbartonshire, yesterday afternoon.
A man who was taken from the scene and is being treated at Glasgow's Royal Infirmary is believed to be their father. It is understood the man is under police guard.
Reports suggested the two children may have suffered carbon monoxide poisoning, while the man was suffering from burns.
Strathclyde Police confirmed they were treating the deaths as suspicious and officers were following "a positive line of inquiry".
Post-mortem examinations were expected to be carried out today on the bodies.
The discovery was made on Crow Road at around 4.30pm on Saturday. Two ambulances were sent up to the scene.
The car was moved from the scene last night by a recovery vehicle but Strathclyde Police officers remain at the scene this morning examining evidence. The force expects the B822 to remain closed well into the afternoon.
The car park is close to the Campsie Fells, a popular spot with families and hillwalkers.
