Baroness Thatcher was early today said to be "stable" in hospital after being admitted for precautionary tests.
The former Prime Minister, 82, is undergoing medical checks at St Thomas' Hospital in central London.
She was driven from her home to the hospital on London's South Bank.
In 2005, Lady Thatcher was advised to rest and give up making speeches after suffering a series of strokes.
A Conservative Party spokeswoman said: "We have been in touch with her office and we wish her well."
Lady Thatcher was ousted in 1990 after 11 years in No 10 Downing Street.
She was most recently seen in public on February 18 when, in her first visit to the Conservative Party's new HQ, she unveiled a bust of herself.
