Four peace protesters have been arrested after they blocked the gates of a coach company which transports workers to a nuclear submarine base.

Ten buses were delayed by anti-nuclear activists who chained themselves to the entrance of Marbill Coaches in Beith, Ayrshire today.

Three activists locked themselves onto one gate, while another climbed on top of another gate at 4.15am this morning.

Marbill Coaches take workers to and from Faslane Naval Base on the Clyde, home to the fleet of Trident nuclear submarines, and weapons depot RNAD Coulport.

Ten coaches were due to leave at 5.30am today but were delayed until around 7am, the coach company said.

Strathclyde Police said that three men and one woman were arrested outside the gates of Marbill Coaches.
