A preliminary meeting to organise the conduct of a public inquiry into a wind farm on Lewis has had to be postponed because civil servants left local objectors off their invitation list.

The public inquiry is into landowner Nick Oppenheim's plans to erect 53 turbines at Muaitheabhal on his Eishken Estate in the South Lochs area of Lewis but there are thousands of objectors.

The pre-inquiry meeting was due to be held today, but one local objector told The Herald last night: "I lodged my objection in the proper manner, so it is very worrying that somehow my views have not been recognised."

A Scottish Government spokesman said: "The meeting has been rescheduled for Friday March 7."
