Leyton Orient manager Tommy Taylor has had a busy week wheeling and dealing in the transfer market.

Out went Colin Simpson, on loan to Borehamwood following a similar spell at Hendon, from where he joined the O's, and Steve McCormick, the giant 6ft4in Scotsman, who had his loan spell from Dundee cut short by mutual agreement.

The pair made way for two other strikers in the form of Amara Simba, from Mexican club Leon, and Junior McDougald, formerly of Millwall. Both, after just one game, already look better than the men they are replacing.

Twenty-three-year-old McDougald, who started his career at Tottenham Hotspur, has been signed by Taylor on a non-contract basis.

Taylor said: "Junior came to us in pre-season but we couldn't do a deal. I said to him `you score me some goals and I'll sort you out a contract'. Really, the ball is in his court.

"You can see that he's going to work hard and he's got a good first touch and I just want some goals out of him.

"I thought he did very well, worked ever so hard when he came on. It was a shame that Tony Richards got a slight injury under his foot again, so we had to fetch him off. He was a good replacement and we didn't lose anything by it," he added.

The O's strike force could be boosted further against Southend United on Saturday by the return of Carl Griffiths, who is training again after a throat infection.

Taylor said that Dave Morrison should also be in the frame for a recall following a knee injury and that his only worry now was hamstring victim Stuart Hicks.

Hicks should be back next week, leaving only long-term casualty Paul Hyde on the sidelines. "We're coming back to full strength now," added Taylor.
