Dorking 0 Carshalton Athletic 5

The Robins blasted into the FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round on Saturday, hammering five goals past Dorking to set up a trip to Ryman Premier rivals Aylesbury.

Carshalton's new signing from Sutton United, Junior Haynes, was cup-tied at the weekend but will be available for the next round to boost Ian Dawes' hopes of his side kicking off a cup run.

Carshalton didn't get off to a flying start on Saturday. Dorking's star player, Stuart White, missed an early chance to put his side ahead, sliding his shot wide of Stuart Searle's far post in the opening minutes.

Carshalton's `keeper then tipped a 20 yard drive over his bar before the Robins began to stamp their authority on the tie.

Despite a glaring miss from striker John Fowler soon afterwards, the Robins took a deserved lead after 30 minutes when captain David Jones rose above Dorking's defence to head powerfully home.

With a minute of the first half remaining Fowler made amends for his earlier miss, beating the offside trap to race in on goal and coolly slot home Carshalton's second.

Dorking were unlucky not to pull one back seconds after the restart when White hit the crossbar. And the home side paid the price within minutes as Richard Newbury slammed the ball into the roof of the net from a Neal Robson corner.

Substitute Matt Fowler scored Carshalton's fourth with his first touch, racing through to fire past Dorking's advancing keeper.

Richard Newbury wrapped up Carshalton's goal feast by squeezing the ball into the net between two defenders.

After five goals, the Robins allowed themselves the luxury of forgiving Newbury for missing a penalty in the final minute.

Carshalton will kick off their league match against Aldershot on Saturday at 3pm.
