DRUGS giant Glaxo Wellcome opened its doors to the public at its Dartford laboratories.
The open day was the first since the site opened in 1888.
More than 1,000 visitors toured the site, giving residents an opportunity to see some of the activities carried out there.
The company put on exhibitions, demonstrations, and a tour of the recycling and waste disposal areas.
Dartford site director Alan Catterall said: "Our staff worked really hard towards ensuring our visitors had an enjoyable time."
