RESIDENTS have shown overwhelming support for one of two proposed schemes to redevelop Harlow Town Station.

Harlow Council's recent public consultation proved that scheme two -- which provides access priority to buses via a central bus lane, was the most popular option.

Of the responses received, 80 per cent preferred scheme two, ten per cent supported scheme one, and ten per cent were in favour of neither proposal.

Of those responding to the consultation, 68 per cent were regular station-users. Option two was also preferred by Harlow bus companies.

The scheme also includes a possible exit from the long term car park, a new pedestrian crossing and disabled parking.

If the redevelopment is approved, it will receive funding from private external sources.
