Thugs attacked police who tried to break up a fight at a Queensbury pub on Tuesday night.

Police were called to the Queen of Hearts in Honeypot Lane at 10pm. They arrested a woman believed to be one of the troublemakers for an alleged public order offence.

The officers were then attacked by drinkers who tried to stop them making the arrest and several officers were injured before calling for assistance.

Sgt Stephen Paul said nine people were arrested and charged with public order offences and assaulting police.

The pub declined to comment.
