Croydon's top young stars excelled at the McDonald's young athletes National Cup Final at Birmingham over the weekend.

Competing against the cream of the nation's U17s, U15s and U13s boys the Harriers placed fifth out of eight - their best ever final appearance. The U13s finished top in their age group and the U15s placed second with the combined three team effort missing out on fourth spot by the narrowest of margins after defeat in the final relay.

Team managers Mike Fleet and Paul Weston were rightly proud of the boys' achievements which saw them claim 11 gold medals out of 78, 21 personal bests and two club records in the U15s relays. The U15s 4x100m team recorded the best time in Britain this year. Romaine Henry, Andre Flemmings, Ugochi Onyeodi and Gavin Dublin recorded a new club record of 45.48secs. The 4x400 also shone taking second place behind Enfield through Kinbwe Tavares, Andre Flemmings, Ammanuel Tshae and Andrew Jenna.

Middle distance marvel Ammanuel Tshaye scooped two individual golds in the U15s 1500m (4mins 22.71secs) and 3000m (9mins 41.71secs). Daniel Campbell took a 13.6secs gold in the 100m and almost made it a sprint double to remember grabbing a silver in the 200m (27.03secs).
