Andy Thompsonwill be supported by the News Shopper at Brands Hatch on Sunday

ANOTHER brilliant drive put Bromley's Andy Thompson 14 points clearin the Rover Tomcat Challenge ahead of this weekend's race at BrandsHatch.

Thompson followed his victory at Donington with pole position atSnetterton on bank holiday Monday. The 33-year-old didn't disappointat the Norfolk circuit, finishing five seconds ahead of Adrian Churchill.

Thompson gained 24 championship points for his first place putting him on148, with former series leader Richard Meins trailing on 134.

On Sunday, Thompson, who is managed by father Roy, races at Brands Hatchand the News Shopper will be eagerly awaiting the results. The team is runon a very tight budget and can usually afford only two new tyres permeeting. At Brands, the News Shopper is providing two extra tyres, soThompson should be able to get the optimum performance out of his car.

After the Brands Hatch race, Thompson races at Malory Park thenSilverstone, before the final round at Donington.
