Bessborough celebrated their 90th birthday with a formal opening of their new clubhouse and a match against an Invitation X1.

Graham Sainsbury, the club captain, made presentations to Alan Phillips, Steve Bellamy and Betty Lewis for their respective contributions to the effort to help the club survive during the period when they had no facilities following a serious fire two years ago.

He them asked the club's life president Viv Feltham to formally open the new clubhouse.

On the playing field Alex Mason, 52, and Andy Carr, 56, provided an entertaining contribution to the club's total of 220 for nine.

In reply Paul Snelling, 95, and Manaj Shah, 40, helped keep the guests in contention. In the final over 12 runs were required for victory, but they fell three runs shorts at 217 for nine and the game ended in a draw.
