A man who killed a Harlow policeman is claiming compensation for clothes and a gold toothcap he lost in the struggle with officers.

Ray Lee, 32, who shot PC Phillip Walters, from Old Harlow, has instructed solicitors to claim £140 from the Metropolitan Police for clothing destroyed when he received a ten-year jail sentence for manslaughter.

Lee also wants compensation for a gold toothcap knocked out during the incident in Ilford, Essex, three years ago, in which he shot 28-year-old PC Walters in the chest.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman confirmed that solicitors had received notice of a claim for £140 compensation, and said the matter would be given consideration in due course.
