Three days of exciting tennis is promised as The Club Med Cup returns to London's Roehampton Club.

The tournament, which began in 1991 at the request of the players, has quickly established itself among the world's leading tennis players as ideal preparation for grass court play prior to the Wimbledon Championships.

The Club Med Cup, which runs until Saturday, is now firmly recognised as "one of the most delightful occasions in the sporting year".

Todd Martin, a Club Med Cup regular, said: "The Club Med Cup is a great event to get a match or two in preparation for Wimbledon against some of the top grass court players. As a result of the intimate atmosphere, it really is unique on the professional world circuit."

An opportunity to watch world - class tennis, the Club Med Cup has featured some of the greatest names: Boris Becker, Goran Ivanisevic, Michael Chang, Mark Philippoussis, Richard Krajicek, Carlos Moya, Gustavo Juerten and Petr Korda to name just a few. Along with these well-known names, the tournament is fast becoming a breeding ground for the new, young, up-and-coming players on the ATP tour.

The format of the tournament is based on the Ryder Cup in golf, with two teams - Europe vs Rest of the World, thus guaranteeing top tennis on all three days.

With attendance limited to just 1,500 spectators per day, it helps to sustain an intimate and genteel "garden party" atmosphere cherished by tennis enthusiasts.

If it rains and there is no play, tickets will be refunded in full.
