Harrow & District Bowling Association took revenge for last year's defeat at the hands of Finchley with a convincing 11-72 win in their match at Century Bowls Club on Wednesday.
Association President Eddie Halling led by example, his rink recording the game's most comfortable victory 24-10.
Other rink scores (Harrow first): Rex Cox 19 Hicks 10; Sid Shears 10 Spikesley 15; Bill Moore 17 Coleman 11; Bert White 24 Hall 13; Wally Walton 17 Cherry 13; Eddie Halling 24; Corbett 10
Harrow & District BA celebrated their Diamond Jubilee year with a special charity competition at the Century Club on Sunday in which nearly 100 bowlers from 25 clubs helped to raise more than £160 for Macmillan Nurses and ASPIRE charities.
A rink from Uxbridge of Bill Telfer, Alan Pines, Alex Groves and Stan Kemp just pipped the Woodcock Park four of Alan Eames, Richard Joy, Lew Erstein and Johnny Johnston by just one shot for the afternoon honours.
President Eddie Halling especially invited a rink from the Harrow Ladies BA to take part in order to mark the very special occasion.
In atrocious weather on Saturday which eventually flooded the Logan Road greens and forced an early finish to the Middleton Cup County Championship match, Middlesex were declared the winners against Surrey by the single shot they were leading by when the match was abandoned.
The home county have to thank Gary Little from the Shepherds Bush club for this rather fortunate result as his rink were leading by a margin of 13 shots against the four skipped by highly-respected international bowler Wyn Richards when the rains came.
With Surrey now out of contention, Middlesex are still in with a fighting chance of going forward to the later stages with two away matches and the home game against Sussex on June 27 scheduled for the next three Saturdays.
Century are going from strength to strength in the Middlesex league, with captain Mat Hazard ecstatic after another fine win, this time with a 15 shot margin away to West Ealing. David Poole's four were the heroes on Sunday when they crushed Middleton Cup bowler Ray Castle's rink 36-14.
Once again Tony Pope skipped a winning rink by ending six shots ahead although Derek Russell went down heavily losing by 11 shots to West Ealing's Paul Cater.
Century ladies were in fine form with a 22 shot victory against Ladygate which was played indoors at the Century club because of the weather.
With Joyce Fletcher's triple including Joan McCarthy and Joyce Tonner finishing 17 shots ahead the result was never in doubt.
The two Century Champions are keeping pace with each other. With Sylvia Bramley having a fine win the previous week, the men's counterpart Dave Robson went to the North London Club and convincingly beat their champion Ray Barwick by a margin of nine.
Who says they both cannot go all the way this year?

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
