Finchley & District faced tough opposition on their tour, to Cornwall. The men won only three of their ten matches, but the ladies took three out of four.

Tony Wilson (Arnos) took the Foxlands Cup, Ted Bagley (Finchley Vic) the Embassy Cup and Barbara Mouland (Potters Bar) collected the Dal Cup. Jim Alderman (Friary Park) took the Les Cooper Cup and the Norman Lake Cup.

Dr Sheridan (Bishopswood) led the Association against the County of Cornwall BA president's team, losing 158-97.

Depleted Finchley Victoria tied 56-56 with Glencairn. Vics' top rink, with a 23-16 win was Stack, Hampsher, Hicks and Hall.

Jack Coleman's rink won 18-17, but George Dipple's went down 23-15.

Away to Friary Park at the weekend, Vics scored a 71-40 win. Top rink, with a score of 32-8 was Cohen, Warne, Hampsher and Hall. Ray Lewis's rink won 26-10, but Jack Coleman's lost 22-13.

At home to Finchley Mill Hill won 53-44. Mill Hill rinks: Howse, Gore and Payne won 17-9. Martin, Hurley and Lacey won 14-13. Krause, Smith and Cherry tied 22-22.

Friday was the away leg of the traditional match against Mill Hill Ladies. President of Mill Hill Ladies, Jeanne Bailey skipped their best rink to an 18-7 victory. Mill Hill beat Kingsbury 69-56. Mill Hill rinks: Leech, Howse, Attwell and Clatworthy lost 14-23. Krause, Gore, Bailey and Cherry won 33-21. Farrow, Gibbins, Hurley and R Smith won 22-12.

Mill Hill ladies beat Finchley Victoria 53-21. Mill Hill rinks: Walsh, Dixon, Bailey and Bowman won 23-8. Telfer, Griffiths, Harris and Carr won 30-13.

East Barnet Valley beat Temple Fortune 64-42. EBV rinks: Reeve, Hosford and Boniface won 35-13. Goodill, Finlayson and Linnett won 20-10. Humphrey, Gibson and Baker lost 9-19.

EBV beat Barnet 61-53. EBV scores: Reeve, Williams, Baker and Boniface won 28-13. Collins, Catlin, Finlayson and Farley won 21-18. Clark, Humphrey, Harris and Hill lost 12-22.

Potters Bar Men beat Edmonton 63-46. PB rinks: Lambert, Hinksman and Lebaigue won 23-18. Butler, Norman, and Parsons lost 15-16. Brooks, Bolton and Pearce won 25-12.

But Bar lost 79-76 to Cheshunt. PB rinks: Marriner, Frost, White and Throup won 19-1. Goodwin, Silbery, Oats and Morris lost 18-25. Lambert, Bowman, Winn and Bryan won 24-18. Dann, Howarth, Lebaigue and Edwards lost 15-25.

Potters Bar ladies beat Bush Hill Park 33-29. PB rinks: Ashley, Throup and Thompson won 16-9. Stokes, Cribb and Pescod lost 17-20.

Potters Bar also beat Selbourne, 34-28. PB rinks: Stokes, Read and Thompson won 18-11. Arnold, Clark and Throup lost 16-17.

The ladies team of Cribb, Nichols and Throup beat the men in the annual Yardley Cup contest.

Barnet lost 89-69 to Garson. Barnet rinks: Allan, Sewell, Henderson and Ede won 20-18. Rusted, Parker, Chapman and Purton drew 20-20.

They were also beaten, 61-53 by EBV, despite a 22-12 win for Allan, Firth, Henshall and Hattrell.

HGH beat Lupton 68-36. HGH rinks: Bunning, Clayton, Dongworth and Brown won 22-12. Langford, Bryan Gilbert, Langford and Hall won 17-13. Hall, Hall, Brown and Bunning won 29-11.

On Sunday HGH lost 62-38 against Welwyn Parkside.
