Author Beryl Bainbridge talked about her work during a recent visit to the borough.
She was at the Jacksons Lane arts centre in Highgate on Saturday as part of the Haringey Literature Festival.
Ms Bainbridge was born in Lancashire and began her career as an actress in Liverpool.
Since then she has written 16 novels, two travel books, and five plays for stage and television.
Her latest book called Master Georgie, was published in September.
