BOXING hero Lennox Lewis was in Highams Park last week, using his hands in a different way.

The WBC world heavyweight champion was giving out the prizes at the Young Parmiterians Football Club annual prize-giving.

He shook hands with all the winners and signed autographs for more than 50 star-struck children, all of whom were delighted by the big mans generosity and patience.

One parent said: Lennox was brilliant. He found time for everyone and stayed at the bash for over three hours. The kids were really made up.

Lewis presented player of the year awards to the U10, U11 and U14 squads.

Joe Lustig and Ryan Folan shared the U10 award while Matthew Hamilton and Williams Yates, who has just been put on the books of a professional club, took the other two honours respectively.

Lewis then left the kids so he could concentrate on winning the WBA and IBF titles from Evander Holyfield in a fight that looks likely to go ahead after months of toing and froing between promoters. Young Parmiterians U10s squad were in startling form at the Loughton Five-a-side tournament on Sunday.

They did not concede a single goal all the way to the final and they only let one in in the last ten seconds of that game.

That meant extra-time and penalties but the lads pulled through and kept their cool to win the shootout against Princes Park 4-3
