Staff and pupils from the Langham School in Tottenham were given an insight into the world of politics during a recent visit to the Houses of Parliament.

Students from the secondary school listened to debates in the House of Commons and the House of Lords during the trip.

They also walked around the historic buildings using a new personal stereo guide system.

It allows visitors to wander around Parliament listening to pre-recorded tapes through headphones.

The group of Year Nine students also visited Downing Street where they had photographs taken outside Number Ten.

Three pupils from Belmont Primary School and a parent governor were also on the trip.

It was organised as part of a scheme aimed at forging closer links between primary and secondary schools.

The Langham School is keen to hear from local primary schools which want to become involved with the scheme.

Call headteacher Richard Dix-Pincott or senior teacher community liaison officer Mary Rawlings on 0181 888 1722 for more details.
