Historic Thames `A' Raters, some around a century old, are currently competing in the 111th Bourne End sailing week.

It promises to be one of the most competitive tournaments in years, and the Raters are expected to do well again this time around.

The wooden boats may be old, but they are still the some of the fastest craft around and can compete on equal terms with their more modern glass-fibre counterparts. And there are few faster than Caprice (Number 9), the Thames Sailing Club boat which last year scooped the coveted Queen's Cup.

See this week's Surrey Comet for winners and losers in this prestigious event.
