Enterprising students at a Hornsey school have won through to the London finals of a competition to discover the best of young business.

The team from the School of St David and St Katharine, in Hillfield Avenue, beat 34 other entrants to be named North London winners of the Young Enterprise award.

Judges rated teams on their ability to form a company, raise capital, manufacture a product and sell it.

At the North London final at Alexandra Palace last Thursday, companies had to set up a display stall, prepare a company report, and make a presentation about their products.

Under the name Saints and Sinners, the team from St Davids set up a business manufacturing and selling greetings cards and tapes of the schools gospel choir.

As well as winning a trophy, Saints and Sinners will go to the London finals of the competition in June. Team members were Emily Bavellas, Patricia Berko, Lydia Brand, Polly Kaminarides, Ruth Lynch, Eny Nyamundanda, Roshan Patroo, Carole Stennett, and Jeshan Narayanan.
