Old Meadonians 153

Bessborough 134

Still without a number of last season's regulars, woeful Bessborough were a pale imitation of last season's Thames Valley League Division Two promotion challenging side as they failed to overtake a total that would normally have proved no problems for their batting line up.

In the end they had to give second best by 19 runs to Old Meadonians at Chiswick House on Saturday, going down to their second consecutive league defeat.

The indefatigable John Taylor, recalled to a first eleven still depleted by the non-availabilty of several regulars bowled superbly to take 7-52, reducing Old Meadonians, who batted first, to 153 all out.

For Bessborough only Faz Wahab (48) seemed to have an answer to the leg spin of the home side's overseas player Khan who took six wickets for just 45 runs. Wahab's eighth wicket partnership with Sunil Bhatia offered a glimmer of hope that the visitors could take the points, but his departure hastened the end and Bessborough were dismissed for 134.

Bessborough are at home to Chalfont St Peter on Saturday and are hoping to have more of their regular line-up from last term back in action including Rupert Thacker, Pankaj Patel, Manoj Shah and Nick Wale.
