FOOTBALL: Sutton Common Road FC got off to a dream start in the final of the Leatherhead and District League Shield. Justin Salmon's 15th minute strike sent SCR on their way to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Molesey Social in last weekend's final at Tolworth-based Corinthian Casuals FC.
Keary Memorial
FOOTBALL: Footballers from Sutton, Epsom, and Banstead are taking part in the annual Tommy Keary Memorial Cup finals at Ewell's Salesians Sports ground this Sunday. Set up over 20 years ago in memory of the well known local footballer killed in a road accident, past winners have included Matt Elliot, the Leicester FC star.
Ladies go up
FOOTBALL: Four wins from their last five matches secured Sutton United Ladies FC promotion to the Premier Division of the South East Counties Women's Football League. United were celebrating this week after grabbing the third promotion slot from Division One with a late 3-2 win over Maidstone United at Gander Green Lane.
