A conman who pretended to be a professional car cleaner made off with a £100 pair of sunglasses and £30 in cash after deceiving a local company.

Employees at Kinetic Business Centre in Theobald Street, Borehamwood, usually have their cars cleaned by a professional cleaner who visits the company on a weekly basis. But last Thursday, just before midday, a different man called and car owners paid up front to have their vehicles cleaned. Later, when they went to inspect his work they found their cars were just as dirty as they has been.

Police are now hunting a man in his 20s described as white, with black, collar length hair, 5ft 8in tall and of thin build. He was wearing a navy and grey sweat shirt, navy tracksuit bottoms, trainers and no socks.

Anyone with any information should telephone Borehamwood police on 0181 733 5425.
