A fabulous attacking display saw Croydon Schools U14s clinch the prestigious Eagles Trophy to cap a wonderful week for the borough's youngsters.

The U14s' thrilling 1-0 win over St Augustine's, Canterbury U14s last Wednesday was followed up three days later with a 3-1 victory over Sutton Schools in the Surrey Schools Cup.

And the U14s completed a magnificent hat-trick for Croydon to make it a clean sweep of Surrey titles thanks to a 2-0 triumph over Woking Schools.

Croydon were always on top in the Eagles trophy final played at Croydon FC's Albert Road ground and were left wondering how they didn't add to their solitary goal. They hit the woodwork four times and saw numerous other efforts sail just wide. Skipper David Shevel (Ashburton) capped a fine midfield display by scoring the vital goal in the 27th minute after Andre Johnson's nodded the ball back 12 yards out.

Croydon continued to boss the game in the second half but were unable to add the killer second despite their pressure. The Eagles trophy was presented to the Croydon team by the Mayor, councillor Toni Letts after the game.

On Saturday the U14s finished their season on a high note beating close rivals Sutton 3-1 in the Surrey Schools Saunders Cup Final. Goals from Sean Clohessy and Lewis Grabban were enough for the U11s to see off Woking Schools in the Surrey Schools Lancaster Cup final at West Horsley last week.
