Eagles starlet Matt Jansen was forced to pull out of the England B squad for last night's match with Portugal.

The youngster, signed from Carlisle for £1m just before deadline day, has been superb since making his debut at home to Coventry but injured his ankle in Saturday's win over Derby. He was taken off as a precaution and subsequently withdrawn from the B squad, though he is expected to shake off his knock in time for Monday's Sky TV clash with Man Utd.

The 20-year-old has thrilled Palace fans with his ability to take on defenders and is already being tipped as a future full England player.

His goal on Saturday was his third goal for Palace and his 15th of the season in total.
