Belgrave Harriers sent shock waves through the National Junior League on Sunday as the south London club's under 20s hit the rest of the Southern Area premier division for six.
Belgrave, promoted from Division One last year and competing in the club's first ever Premier Division meeting at Walthamstow, not only won by 35 clear points, but left some of the top clubs in the country way behind.
Their most significant scalp was that of national champions Blackheath, who plunged to their worst-ever performance, ending sixth of seven clubs.
Belgrave's hero of the day was 18-year-old Bosnian Amir Becirhodzic. Just back from warm weather training in Portugal, he had remained in the UK before returning to his home in Sarajevo to score crucial points for his club.
He clocked a lifetime's best by finishing third in the 800m A race in 1m 56.9s, went on to take fourth in the 1,500m race in 4.10.1, then turned in a Herculean effort in the 2,000m steeplechase to win outright in 6.27.1.
The meeting opened with an impressive double on the track. English Schools champion Austin Ferns won the 400m hurdles A race in a modest 56.3s with Sam Pantling turning in a winning 59.2s run in the B race in his first-ever outing in the event.
Pantling went on to clinch third in the B string 400m timing 52.8s adding a fine fourth leg of the 4 x 400m relay, before sprinting back down the A303 for the new term at Millfield School, Somerset!
In the sprint events, English Schools international Chris Lambert made sure of maximum points in the A events with a winning 11.1s 100m and 22.7s over 200m. In the long jump Darren Thompson won the A in 6.80m and Charles Igbon the B with 6.21m.
