Police are studying video footage in the hunt for a knifeman who stabbed a man five times in the chest and back.
The attack happened at midnight on Monday in College Road, Harrow, near the Post Office.
Pc Richard Metcalfe said it followed an argument over a petty matter. It escalated into a scuffle and the attacker produced a knife and began stabbing the other man.
The 24-year-old was taken to hospital, but his injuries were not life-threatening.
Pc Metcalfe said. "We are studying video evidence from the town centre's CCTV system to identify the suspect."
The knifeman was white, about 22 and about 5ft 10in with short dark brown hair.
