THERE was some Easter eggs-citement for Sawbridgeworth Boys U15 football squad when they took top honours in a national football tournament.

Playing teams from all over the country, Sawbo took victory after a hard fought week-long league contest in Rye, Sussex.

Although the boys did not win the league, they did finish as runners-up and were only denied top spot in their age group on goal difference.

Sawbo did walk away with the Fair Play award and manager Dave Dennis said: The week was a fantastic success for the club. The results are typical of the boys spirit, always playing hard to win but fair within the rules of the game.

It would be wrong to single out individuals as the result was due to the efforts of the whole squad.

I know this team is so much stronger now because of this experience and we are all looking forward to the remainder of our league matches and have tremendous confidence for next season.

Man of the match club awards were presented to Michael Motteram, Stuart Foster and Nick Woods.

The sportsman of the week trophy went to Chris Crow with the players player trophy going to team captain Rob Cozens.
