Night bus to be changed

Changes to the N9 night bus are to be announced when timetables are rescheduled on Friday, May 1.

The N9 runs every 30 minutes from Aldwych to Kingston via Barnes, East Sheen, Richmond, Twickenham, Fulwell, Teddington and Hampton Wick. London Transport Buses say the changes will improve reliability.

Police closure

This week saw Richmond police station close for the night at 8pm.

The decision follows a police survey that showed an average of three calls were made on the station between 1am and 6am each night. A public telephone will be available outside the station which is linked to Twickenham police station 24 hours a day.

Pubs watch out

Hostelries in Barnes have set up their own pubwatch with the help of police.

The taverns have followed in the steps of Richmond and Twickenham to work together to keep pubs trouble free. A ring around system is now in place which will see landlords keeping each other informed of any unwanted activity.

Poverty plea

A seminar on Third World debts was attended by the MPs for Richmond Park and Twickenham on Saturday.

Jenny Tonge and Vince Cable attended the meeting held at St James's Church, Hampton Hill, to urge people to contribute more towards poverty.

The meeting was organised by Charities Aid.
