Schools may shrink under plans to redevelop RAF Stanmore Park.
Some of the 19 primary schools in the east of the borough which are undersubscribed, including one which has more than 180 unfilled places, could be slimmed down.
The area affected includes Whittlesea School, Harrow Weald; Whitefriars First and Middle, Wealdstone; Priestmead First and Middle and Kenmore Park First and Middle, Kenton; Aylward First and Middle and St John's CofE First and Middle, Stanmore.
The plan is revealed in a council document setting out plans for the RAF base, which include housing and a new school, which may not get Government approval if existing schools are underused.
On Tuesday, the education, arts and leisure committee agreed to recommend to the development and planning committee, which met last night, that five acres of the base be used for education to meet demand generated by the new homes.
A council spokesman said: "This is very speculative. Some schools may downsize, but some may expand."
