TWO convicted heroin dealers are to be evicted from their South Oxhey council home.

Mark and Georgina Burn were found guilty of possessing and supplyng heroin in March last year, after being caught by police in an undercover operation.

Both were sent to jail and Mrs Burn was released in December, returning to her Mullion Walk home.

On Monday, March 4, Three Rivers District Council asked Watford County Court for a possession order to be granted on the grounds of illegal use of a council policy, nuisance caused by the drug dealing, and rent arrears of more than £4,500.

Despite the eviction, the council will continue to chase the couple to pay the debt.

The couple had been joint tenants at the address for 18 years.

Judge Farnworth, who allowed the action, refused the couple leave to appeal and awarded the council £1,750 in legal costs.

A spokesman for the police said: "Since 1995, we have had more than 200 reported incidents to that address.

"They have been a mixture of missing people, drugs warrants and alleged assaults."

Sergeant Jim Mckenzie, part of South Oxhey's community team, said: "This sends a clear message to drug dealers on the estate that if arrested and convicted, they will face eviction if they are council tenants."
