MORE police are being brought in to deal with the problem of vandalism in Bovingdon.
As well as the normal level of full-time police officers, the village will see an influx of special constables, designed to increase police presence and deter vandals.
A police spokesman said: "Mr Mark Roberts, the district officer for the special constabulary in Dacorum, has confirmed his officers will be conducting increased high-visibility patrols in the Bovingdon area, in support of regular colleagues for the foreseeable future.
"The objective of these patrols will be to tackle anti-social behaviour and prevent any possible criminal offences being committed."
This has not come a moment too soon for residents of the village, following more vandalism over the past two weekends.
The word "Memorial" has been taken from the front of the Bovingdon Memorial Hall, and the telephone box outside has been vandalised.
Pipes have been ripped off and broken off the guttering at the back of the memorial hall.
The bowls club was broken into and the greens damaged.
