Havering Schools' U16's 6 Croydon Schools' U16's 0
Croydon Schools' Under 16's crashed out of the London Schools' Football Association's Hawke Trophy, losing 6-0 in a one-sided semi-final, against Havering Schools at Romford on Saturday, writes David Lomas.
The Havering keeper was mostly unemployed as he was a mere spectator for much of the match.
At the other end, Croydon paid dearly for defensive lapses and found themselves 2-0 down inside the first five minutes. They tried hard to get back in the match but from that point onwards they were "chasing the game".
Further goals for Havering came in the 23rd, 30th and 34th minutes, to make the half-time score 5-0 and leaving Croydon to reflect upon their ragged, shapeless display. Five shots on goal, five goals! Croydon didn't know what had hit them.
Havering increased their lead eight minutes into the second half. Although Croydon played better from this point onwards, their task was hopeless and even a consolation goal did not come their way.
Croydon will be hoping to bounce back when they entertain Woking Schools in the Surrey Schools' Cyril Black Trophy Final at Croydon Athletic's ground, "Mayfields", Thornton Heath, next Tuesday (March 12th) kick-off: 7.30 p.m.
Kingston Schools' U11's 5 Croydon Schools' U11's 3
An improved performance by a patched-up Croydon Schools' Under 11 side was insufficient to bring home any points from this Surrey Schools' Sydney Black league match at Thames Ditton on Saturday.
Croydon Team Manager, Luke Balogun, had to pull out all the stops when three players withdrew at short notice.
Weak defending and a quality goal put Croydon on the backfoot, trailing 3-0 after only ten minutes
Aaron Kelly (St Mark's) reduced the arrears with a well-taken goal in the first minute after the interval but two minutes later Kingston regained their three goal margin
Tyrone Cassius (St Mark's) was on target twice but it was too little, too late and Kingston bagged the points.
There are two Croydon Schools' district matches on Saturday (9th March). The Under 15's host North Kent Schools in a London Schools' FA Corinthian Shield semi-final, at Powerleague, Turle Road, Norbury (Kick-off: 10.30 a.m.)
The Under 11's travel to Cuckfield to play Mid-Sussex Schools in a friendly.
o Croydon Schools' Cricket Association are organising an indoor cricket coaching course at Trinity School at Easter, for Under 11's in Croydon Schools (for both boys and girls).
The course is due to take place on four consecutive afternoons, from Tuesday 2nd April to Friday, 5th April, inclusive.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
