GURU Nanak's Sunday side, of the North Kent Senior League, beat local rivals Swanscombe Sun, of Division One, in the quarter-final of the Reporter Cup, 5-2.

In the first half-hour, the Gurus possibly played some of their best football of the season as continuous one-touch play opened up the visitors' defence.

New signing Luke Slackford opened the the scoring on his debut when he bravely fended off two tackles to toe-end the ball in.

Happy Mudahar then crossed for Jess Gill to latch onto and net the second, before Slackford then set up the next two goals scored by Kam Khunkhun and Mudahar.

Swanscombe managed to score a couple of goals before regular Gurus' ace striker Jaswinder Bhens scored his side's fifth. The Gurus now face a trickier tie in the semi-final against Senior Division outfit Old Comrades.

Guru Nanak's Kent County League Division 3 West side's unbeaten home run since the start of September came to an end when they lost 3-2 to Tonbridge Invicta.

After being two-down down due to sloppy defending, the Gurus staged a comeback to draw level by half-time with goals from Jess Gill and Ricky Gosal.

The Gurus then went behind before piling on the pressure, but they could not force another equaliser.

This Saturday, they make the short trip to Meopham for the quarter-final of the Gordon Charity Cup.

Guru Nanak Reserves, of Gravesend Division 1, lost to The Old Price of Orange 4-1 with Shane Edwards scoring their only goal in a dire performance.
