THE cross-country season reached its climax with The National Cross-Country Championships at Bristol on Saturday.
Despite bitterly cold conditions, which caused many runners to drop out, Ealing Southall & Middlesex recorded some of their best racing results for the past few years.
In the senior men's race, the club had three runners in the top 50 early on and the team managers were looking for a top 10 team place.
As the race wore on they suffered for their early enthusiasm and dropped back down the field.
Best of the finishers were training partners Adrian McGarva and Andrew Mellor whose private race went all the way to the line. McGarva finishing in 130th and Mellor 132nd.
