The first stage in a large Kenley housing development was approved by Croydon Council last week, but two further developments will have to be scaled down to get a chance of planning permission being granted.

Demolition of the existing houses and erection of twelve houses at 22 Valley Road, Kenley, was approved by Croydon's Development Control Committee at a town hall meeting on Thursday (February 21).

Lee Savell Properties scaled down the project on the council's request.

Two other neighbouring projects on the same road but by different developers, will now have to scale down proposals for 12 flats on smaller sites, after the committee rejected the applications.

Committee chair councillor Ian Payne said: "Number 22 was a much bigger plot and they had come back to us with a reduced number of houses."
