KEEN historians gathered for a talk on the ancient Spring Head settlement at Towncentric, Gravesend last Saturday.
The settlement, which dates back to the Iron Age, was unearthed when archaeologists started digging alongside the A2 at Ebbsfleet.
The site, which runs through the path of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, has fascinated archaeologists for years.
Thousands of pieces of pottery, hundreds of coins and brooches, as well as animal and human remains lay hidden beneath the surface.
Helen Glass, who gave the talk, explained how people lived at the time.
