THE preservation of the water gardens, recruiting new members and protection of the Town Park, open spaces and green land were set to be discussed at the fourth annual meeting of Harlow Civic Society yesterday (Tuesday).

Chairman Stan Newens said: "Our aims are simple. We believe the interests of Harlow people should be paramount, we should resist the loss of public assets to commercial and other interests, and we want to increase awareness of civic values so that we can appreciate and care for our heritage."
