THE foot and mouth outbreak has led to the cancellation of St Clare Hospice's Y2K1 Feet Forward Day, which was set to be held on Sunday, April 1.

The loss of the annual fun run and walk could mean losing up to £5,000 of much-needed funds, which it was hoped the event would have raised.

The hospice said it had reluctantly taken the decision because the race would have attracted people from across East Anglia, including Suffolk and Norfolk, counties which have yet to have an incident of the disease.

Livestock graze in fields along the route of the 10km run and the 5km walk would have been on country footpaths now closed to the public.

The event has been rescheduled for Sunday, September 2, with registration from 8.30am to 10am, for the run to start at 10.30am and the walk at 10.45am.

Anyone wanting a refund of their entry fee should send a stamped addressed envelope to the hospice in Hastingwood Road, Hastingwood, by June 1.
