Blackheath travelled to Norfolk with high expectations, but in a game dominated by two sound defences it was always going to be a game where goal kicking would be the difference, and Walsham won the day 14-5.

Club started terribly and no one was more surprised than the home centre Nick Greener when, in the opening minutes, he received a ball from the scrum and ran unchallenged to score, but John Dwight missed the conversion kick.

Club were still waking up when they conceded a penalty, which Dwight converted.

Club's Chris Trace then out-paced the defence to score in the corner. But Jon Griffin missed the kick and then two more penalties. Walsham then missed a penalty themseves.

The game developed into a scrappy affair into the second half with too many interuptions.

Two more penalties followed for the home side, converted by Dwight. Blackheath were playing the better rugby with Fitzgerald and Biljon both being troublesome to the home defence.

Club did get another penalty but Trace kicked wide. All in all it was an untidy game with both teams making far too many errors and in many ways, this could have been Club's fourth draw of the season.
