A 77-year-old woman escaped injury when her car overturned in Elstree's Allum Lane on Saturday.

According to Hertfordshire Constabulary, the woman's white Nissan Micra overturned when it hit railings near the Total service station in Allum Lane, although it had not been travelling fast. Road restrictions were put in place, either side of the railway bridge near Station Road, for an hour following the accident, which happened at 6.08pm.

The woman, from Wembley, was taken to Barnet Hospital, and a police spokeswoman said: "It was amazing she suffered no injuries considering where her car ended up. She was taken to hospital for a precautionary check-up."
