A 16-year-old boy from Borehamwood had his mountain bike stolen by a gang of teenagers with knives on Sunday evening.

The boy was riding his bike along Manor Way at 10pm on Sunday, May 13, when he was approached by five other boys, aged from ten to 14 years, also riding bicycles.

One of the gang asked to have a ride on the boy's purple mountain bike. He refused, and three of the gang pulled out knives.

They told the boy they would use the knives against him, and then pushed him off his bike, before riding away on it, through an alleyway off Ripon Way, towards Grantham Green.

Police searched the area, but did not find the gang. A damaged bicycle, believed to have been belonged to one of the gang, was later found in Grantham Green.

The boy was not injured, but his £55 bike was lost.

All five members of the gang were white and had Irish accents. Four were aged around 14 years, and the fifth was around ten-years-old.

The first was 6ft tall, with a slim build, blond hair, black jogging bottoms and no shirt. Another wore black jeans, a green and black shirt, and had a shaven head.

The ten-year-old member of the gang had dark brown cropped hair, a blue tee-shirt and dirty brown jogging bottoms.

Police are calling for anyone who saw the gang to telephone Borehamwood CID on 020 8905 1212.
