The article on Dana Wynter by Paul Welsh brought back memories of my teenage years as one of Dr Wynter's patients.

The most distinctive feature about him was the scar on the side of his face. The rumour was that it was a duelling scar. I also vividly remember Dana, or Dagmar as she was named then.

I thought she was the most beautiful girl in Borehamwood. She was born in 1930, the same year as myself. My wife (Rosina nee Boniface), also remembers her as the first person she remembers that wore the New Look, the long dress.

If ever you visited the doctor and required medicine, you never went to the dentist. He had his own selection of phamacutical treatments that always seemed to be in a large bottle, almost always the same colour, that tasted awful.

I have seen Dana a number of times on TV and often wondered how her father fared in Africa, I was quite surprised to hear he died recently (1992).

I find the This is Borehamwood website very useful for keeping up to date on the latest news, although it has certainly changed a lot since the time I left in 1956.

It would appear that vandalism and violent crime, something that was almost unheard of in the past, is a big problem.

I emigrated to Ottawa, Canada in 1963 but will always remember those years growing up in the 1930s and 1940s in Shenley and Borehamwood.

Congratulations on an excellent website, and I hope 2001 brings prosperity, health and happiness to all your readers.
