TEENAGER Amy Ransom has died on a school trip after falling 500 metres down the side of a mountain in Northern Vietnam.
The 17-year-old from Wycombe High School fell from the mountain path on Monday while trekking up Fansipan Mountain near Sapa with seven other pupils, two teachers and a Vietnamese guide.
She lived with her parents at Bryants Bottom in Hughenden Valley.
"She fell around 500 metres down a mountainside but it is unclear whether she died immediately from her fall or afterwards from her injuries," a Foreign Office spokesman said.
An emergency meeting was held at the school on Tuesday night and the remaining members of the expedition are due back this evening.
