STEPS have been taken to improve the foot care service in North Kent.

A podiatry call centre has opened in Dartford where a team of four staff will organise patients' appointments on a new computer network.

The aim of the centre, which has been set up by Thames Gateway NHS Trust, is to make the podiatry service in the area more efficient than it was under a paper-based appointments system.

Administration manager Lynn Johnston said: "This system enables patients to have greater access to the service.

"We have a dedicated team of staff who offer a much more flexible service to users wanting to see our specialist team of podiatrists.

She added: "We can see where and when the next free clinic is across Sheppey, Sittingbourne, Medway, Gravesend or Dartford."

To use the service at Archery House in Bow Arrow Lane, visit a GP or contact the call centre on one of the following numbers between 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday, 01322 622202/03/06/25.
