Intensive multi-disciplinary training from the army means 18 year old James Campbell will be qualified to fight or become a communications expert when it's finally time to choose.
Having completed his phase one NVQ training including basic military skills, problem solving, maths and science, James is back in his home town reassuring other youngsters considering an army career that if they decide to
return to civvy street at any point their skills will be valuable on the job market.
He will be available for advice at the Croydon Army Careers Information Office on Mitcham Road, Croydon until January 11.
An army careers spokesman said: "The New Year can be a difficult time for many youngsters who may be weighing up their career options but James will be available to chat to anyone considering a career in the army.
"The army courses undertaken by James during his training are civilian recognised, and should he choose to return to civvy street, James will be qualified to work in the competitive telecommunications industry."
For James a highlight of his training so far has been a visit to the battle of Waterloo site in Belgium.
The most challenging and satisfying part of his training was a survival leadership week spent foraging for food, building fires and running an assault course when tired and hungry.
