THAME United got back into winning ways with a thoroughly deserved 1-0 win over Uxbridge on Saturday.

If ever there was a comprehensive 1-0 win, this was it as they dominated the game, restricting Uxbridge to one shot on target all afternoon.

The home side pinned the visitors back from the first whistle with Jefferson Louis and Justin Merritt both going close in the opening ten

minutes.

The pace of Jefferson Louis caused panic in the Uxbridge rearguard as he had a shot deflected over and a right foot drive which was inches wide.

Louis should have opened the scoring in the 40th minute after Danny Currant's right wing cross was flicked on by Cort, but he blazed over.

On the stroke of half time, keeper Wells came to the visitors' rescue making a good save from the energetic Nando Perna.

Perna was not to be denied and scored the winning goal three minutes after the break.

Louis won the ball and found Wayne Cort. The big striker's astute pass into the run of Perna was perfect and the midfielder took the ball on before firing home from 18 yards.

Justin Merritt saw his goal-bound shot blocked and Chris Potter was also denied as United hunted a second goal.
